Wow, I know. Loving yourself? What a concept, what a question! Loving ourselves is often something we are not doing or something we subconsciously resist. Loving ourselves can appear to be much more difficult than loving others. Loving others might seem less threatening or easier to do, but the reality is, if we do not love ourselves first, the way we love others becomes shallow and incomplete.
We are such complex and amazing beings with both a mind and a heart. Our minds often lie to us and talk our inner self, our true self, our self that lies deep in our hearts, out of being who we are meant to be. We become lost in what others say or do and what society says we should be or do. We allow ideas of others that are constructed from fictions to take space in our mind and those ideas often commander our own thoughts and ideas, the thoughts and ideas that were once shared between our heart and our mind.
Starting to genuinely love yourself begins with introducing your heart to your mind again. Allowing conversation to occur, conversation that reacquaints the mind with its owner, the heart. Deep in your heart radiates your true self. The self that giggles, creates, dances, draws, writes, explores, cares, works, commits, seeks and grows. This self has the vision and knows the way, this self can communicate these things to the mind and that is the way of accomplishment. The way to live true, to live the path that your inner light shines upon. Such is the only way to finally experience self-love, through living your truth!
This is only the beginning, but much to think about. I will continue in the following weeks to re-visit this question and I will do my best to offer you meaningful insights.
